‘Missing’ an SBS documentary

Missing’ is an SBS documentary about the abduction of a schoolgirl and the Pitjantjatjara trackers who searched for her. Collaborating with award-winning screenwriter Dr. Kylie Boltin and the talented team at SBS, I led the art direction and design for the project.

Dual narrative storytelling

The documentary is told from two contrasting perspectives: Wendy, the missing schoolgirl, and Jimmy, the Pitjantjatjara tracker. We aimed to create distinct visual treatments to reflect each perspective.

Interaction design

Users navigated the experience by aligning the fragmented landscape to reconstruct the story, much like a Pitjantjatjara tracker would. To create this unique experience, we employed some creative coding and a technique called anamorphic optical illusions.
